SILK SUTURE WITH NEEDLE

SILK SUTURE

SILK

is non-absorbable sterile surgical suture composed of an organic protein called fibroin. This protein is derived from the domestic species Bombyx Mori. Thread is multifilament, braided or twisted. Thickness of the tread between 9/0 and 5 USP. It is coated with silicone, bee wax or natural. Thanks to the coating it penetrates tissue surface easily. It has good tensile strength. Thread is available undyed or dyed black.

Atraumatic combinations of SILK are available in a range of gauge sizes and lengths, non-needled or attached to different types and sizes of single and double stainless steel needles. Blue colour is used on single and collective packaging.

SILK complies with the requirements of European Pharmacopoeia.

INDICATIONS AND USE

SILK is nonabsorbable suture, but it take place gradual loss of all strength over a period of 3 to 6 Months in vivio. Combination of SILK threads and needles are used according to kind and size of the wound, surgical procedures and techniques, experience of surgeon and condition of the patient. Silk is intended for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation. Silk suture is indicated to use in: general surgery, cardiovascular, ophthalmic, and neurological procedures.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Due to the loss of tensile strength SILK should be not used where extended approximation of tissues under stress for a long time is required. Adverse effects associated with use of this device include allergic response in patient that are known to be sensitive to SILK, initial inflammatory tissue reaction, and transient local irrigation at the wound site. Like all foreign bodies silk may potentiate an existing infection.

STERILITY
